Mobile Physiotherapy Gungahlin: In-Home Treatment
Wondering if mobile physiotherapy in Gungahlin is the right fit for you?
It can be a real hassle to get in to see a physio. I know, I am one! Not only do you have to clear your diary, travel to the clinic, find parking (and pay for it!), but then you have to sit in the waiting room when you could be doing something more meaningful. That’s why I started offering Mobile Physiotherapy in Gungahlin, my community.
What Mobile Physiotherapy in Gungahlin Actually Looks Like
When I come to your home in Gungahlin, it’s just like a regular physiotherapy session. We do a history, we assess any dysfunctions or deficits and together we work on a plan to solve your problem. But there are some key differences between mobile physiotherapy and a clinic session.
How In-Home Physio Differs From a Gungahlin Physiotherapy Clinic Visit
Can I be honest? When I started to envision this business, my goal was to keep costs low and deliver a service to my local area that matched what they could expect in a well-equipped clinic.
But as I began to work in people’s homes I realised something; mobile physiotherapy isn’t just an alternative to seeing someone in the clinic. In many ways it’s better!
Most of the useful parts of the session are completely unchanged. History taking? The same. Hands-on treatment? Movement assessments? Home exercise program? All much, MUCH better with mobile physiotherapy.
Here’s why: when you come to the clinic you’re in a completely alien environment. When a clinician asks you to walk up and down the room, you walk like a robot! You sit funny in your chair. When we ask how your pillow or mattress at home compares to the one that you’re lying on you have no idea.
Now imagine the in-home session with mobile physiotherapy. You walk up and down like you’re in your own home. Because you are! If there are questions about your pillow, your mattress, your running shoes we don’t have to speculate; we can go and look at them. Didn’t realise you would need your glasses? Not a problem, they’re on the table.
What’s Included in a Home Visit Physiotherapy Session
A first session has a clear structure:
- History taking. We get a clear sense of your problem, your goals, and your lifestyle.
- Assessment. We work out the root cause of your complaint and hopefully get a sense of how we move towards a resolution.
- Treatment. Hands on treatment or assisted movement (depending on your complaint). Believe it or not, I’m able to bring quite the arsenal to bear on your problem. Sessions may include massage, joint mobilisation, IASTM, TENS (including tVNS), cupping, dry needling, laser (LLLT), passive vestibular stimulation, taping, bracing, and probably a few more options I’ve forgotten.
- Exercise prescription and movement training. Movement is key for long-term recovery.
The Mobile Physiotherapy Difference: Assessment and Diagnosis in Your Own Environment
The session above is the same whether I see you in a clinic or at home. But the environment is the key difference.
If you have recurring lower back pain which you think is caused by sitting for long periods in your home office, I can assess your actual chair, monitor height, and daily movement patterns on the spot, rather than trying to work backwards from a verbal description.
Hands-On Treatment and Take-Home Exercise Plans
What’s more, we can tailor the exercise plan to your actual equipment, furniture, and floor space in your home. If you have a home gym we can work with that exact setup. If not, I can provide tools like resistance bands and show you exactly how to use them: what furniture it’s safe to tie them to, the best place to keep them so that you actually remember them, and all the other small details that make the difference between getting exercises and actually doing them.
Who Qualifies for Mobile Physio That Comes to Your Home in Gungahlin
I can see almost anyone with almost any condition but there are absolutely situations in which mobile physiotherapy is the clear go-to.
Ideal Candidates: Chronic Pain, Mobility Limits and Busy Schedules
From a scheduling and mobility perspective, there are some people who get a huge benefit from mobile physio:
- People recovering from surgery
- Parents managing young children
- People with limited transport options
- Those who work from home and can’t spend 90 minutes going back and forth for a 30-minute appointment.
- Those whose pain is triggered by the trip to the clinic. If driving is a problem, let’s remove it!
Conditions I see: Back Pain, Headaches and TMJ/TMD
There are also conditions which I really shine in treating. Don’t get me wrong, I will happily help you to recover from your sprained ankle or your meniscus repair. But without being too prideful, I am extremely skilled in the following areas:
- Lower Back Pain. Most physios do NOT excel at treating lower back pain. I do. I have completed Stuart McGill’s revolutionary McGill method courses (1, 2, & 3) as well as a raft of other courses. This gives me both a clear framework and direction, as well as a raft of options if we run into trouble.
- Headache. When I learned that physios can help people to manage headaches I immediately jumped onto a series of courses and qualifications to learn how to do so effectively. Mulligan Concept manual therapy, the Watson Approach to headache, and Z-Health’s neurocentric model of headache treatment are just some of the tools I have to help you relieve headache and often reduce or eliminate your headache issues in the long term.
- TMJ/TMD/Orofacial Pain. Once I got to grips with headache, I realised that TMJ pain often comes along for the ride. I trained with the renowned Francine St George in Sydney to learn how to manage TMJ disorders and have gone on to learn a variety of other therapies and treatments since then.
- Chronic illness, chronic pain, hypermobility, and women’s health. These often fly under the radar as drivers of musculoskeletal disorders. Not only that, but they require adjustments to the treatment and management process. I saw too many people failed by standard care and made a point of learning to manage these issues in a sensitive and proactive manner to make sure we optimise your recovery.
Local Service Area: Gungahlin and Surrounding ACT Suburbs
I service mobile physiotherapy clients in the Gungahlin Region and surrounding suburbs. However, if you are happy to cover travel costs I can extend my range to help you.
As of August 2026 I have no travel fees for Gungahlin suburbs but please check the booking notes at your time of booking. If you’re at all unclear on whether travel charges apply then please send me a message and I will get back to you with a definitive answer.
The Clinical Movement Philosophy Behind Every In-Home Session
My approach to physiotherapy is driven by the relentless pursuit of clinical efficacy. I don’t want you to come back to me every week for the next year (unless you want to!). I want you to be empowered to move forward, to enjoy the activities which give meaning to your life, and to feel confident in your body’s ability to handle any situation.
I draw on a tremendous range of influences including martial arts, Yoga, kettlebell training, strength and conditioning, Olympic lifting, calisthenics, muscle control, and more! This gives me the ability to meet you where you are, no matter where that is!
Most importantly, I’m not looking for quick fixes. I’m looking to help you realise your physical potential and move past whatever is bothering you with power, grace, and confidence.
When In-Home Physiotherapy Isn’t the Right Fit
If we are too far away from each other, mobile physiotherapy may not be practical. If that’s you, but you’re still excited by the possibility of working together, then get in touch. Depending on your issue, we may be able to work together over telehealth, or I may know a clinician who is more accessible to you.
The Online Back Pain Foundations Course as an Alternative
I also offer a self-paced course to help clients manage their experience of Lower Back Pain. The Back Pain Foundations course uses many of the principles I apply to my face-to-face sessions and teaches you to apply them yourself.
I originally devised the course to be a support for my existing clients, but it is now available to everyone! It’s currently available at an extremely low launch price so if you’re interested, check it out!
